Vasectomy is a very good method of long term contraception that is very good, not only for the person, but it takes the risk associated with other forms of contraception away from the females and eliminates the risk of unintended pregnancy. It allows men to limit their family size so they can nurture the children they already have.

Currently, I am President of No Scalpel Vasectomy International. NSVI is a non-profit charitable organization.
World Vasectomy Day is important because it will keep us aware of the rapidly growing population, especially in the developing countries. It will effect our children, women's health, as well as society and the planet as well. NSVI is a big supporter of World Vasectomy Day.

I do vasectomies to provide a way for men to become involved in contraception. It became quite obvious to me that most of the burden of family planning falls on women, in a couple. By allowing men to participate, I can offer a highly effective form of contraception.

I took the naive approach of thinking that I probably wouldn't get anyone pregnant again. I think most of the birth control in my life, has been my wife or girlfriends on the pill, and I don't think that's the healthier alternative to me getting a vasectomy and being done with it.
My belief has been that the woman is always responsible for the birth control - It's time to change that. After going through what I just went through, and how quick and easy it was, if you don't want to have children, you should have a vasectomy!

We decided to have a vasectomy because, she birthed the kids so the vasectomy part was for me and it was easier than doing a tube tie. Tube tying is a big surgery, and a vasectomy is quick and simple and affordable...and more effective.

I've always wondered at why women carry the bulk of that problem and why men don't step up more and say, "This is a partnership. This is something we've agreed to do." Sometimes the consequences of not planning well or taking preventetive action produced a child or produces a situation in which a child could be born. You always have to make a decision and I always wondered why men didn't take a bigger role in making that decision ahead of time.
